Getting Started with Microsoft
Microsoft’s Speech Technology empowers users to interact with their computer or other devices via their voice and increase overall productivity. A wide range of speech technologies for server, embedded and desktop is now available in ready-to-use applications such as Outlook Voice Access in Microsoft Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging, Windows Speech Recognition on Windows Vista, 1-800-555-TELL, Microsoft Response Point, and Voice Command on Windows Mobile.
Microsoft offers SDKs for speech application client development in native SAPI and managed System.Speech namespace in .NET 3.x on the desktop, as well as server side capabilities using Microsoft Unified Communications Managed API Speech, the Tellme VoiceXML Platform, and the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Speech Server Developer Edition for server side speech development. With these SDKs you as a developer can leverage your existing Windows programming skills, familiarity with Visual Studio, or familiarity with VoiceXML to create with a minimal learning curve innovative speech-enabled applications.
